Visual Arts and Design Montage
This montage was made for my visual arts and design class my sophomore year. Visual Arts and Design class was a creatively based class, throughout the class we had to draw sketches, get proficient at using photoshop, and thinking outside of the typical pen and paper type of learning. It was also required for us to work on drawings individually and making sure we got everything in on a good date, because there was no initial due date on any of our pieces. The goal of this montage was to describe myself on a more creative level, using only pictures that describe us as individuals, than blending them together creating a montage.
Making this montage it was required for me to obtain a certain amount of computer skills, independent working skills and also creative skills. Which I believe could be very crucial when it comes to a professional job. When looking for pictures to combine
together, I had to think on a personal level of things that best describe me. For example I used the Guatemalan and Mexican flags to symbolize my unique ethnic background. I also incorporated the skyline of San Diego and my favorite flower the Lily, which is also the name of my mom. The struggles I had when making the montage was that I was just starting to learn how to use Photoshop which was a hassle at first. I constantly made mistakes when blending the pictures together because I had to put multiple layers to make it possible to blend well.
I feel I did a good job describing myself using just pictures, but if I were to re-due it I would’ve chose better pictures and make it flow a little better. Although I took a lot of time choosing each individual picture I wish I could’ve put more pictures on it. Simply paying attention to little details could’ve gone a long way.
